11:30 - 12:30Frankenstein Pairs Competition

It's alive! Two puzzles have been mashed together into one monstrous pile of pieces. Your pair will receive the images for both puzzles, but all of the pieces have been mixed together. Figure out which pieces belong to which puzzle, then separate the monster back into its two parts and bring both puzzles to life. The fastest pair to successfully complete both puzzles wins.

Note: the puzzles are different brands so identifying which puzzle is which is easy enough

12:45 - 1:45Pairs Relay Competition

Two teammates will work on two separate puzzles at the same time, but every five minutes, the spell is cast and you must switch puzzles. Each teammate takes over the puzzle their partner was just working on and must quickly figure out where things stand and continue the solving. The switching continues every five minutes for the entire 60 minute event.

2:00 - 3:00Trick or Treat Pairs Competition

Each pair will receive two 210 piece puzzles sealed in identical bags: one difficult Trick and one easy Treat. The catch? You won't know which is which! Your team must choose one bag to open and tackle first, then complete the remaining puzzle second. Your total time is the combined time it takes to complete both puzzles. Will you get lucky and unwrap the Treat first, or will you unleash the Trick? Choose wisely, because once you pick your first bag, there's no going back!

3:15 - 4:45Triclops Teams Competition

Teams of up to 4 people take on this three headed monster of three 250 piece puzzles! Your team must defeat all three puzzles, but there's a catch: only one puzzle can be worked on at a time. Your team gets to choose which puzzle to attack first, then which one to tackle next, and finally which monster gets finished last. All three team members can work together on each puzzle. Choose your order wisely, work together, and slay all three heads before the clock strikes zero. The fastest team to complete all three puzzles wins.

Rules & FAQ

Arrival time frame: Competitors must be at their seat before competition announcements start, otherwise the Host reserves the right to replace the competitor with competitors from the waitlist, without providing compensation or refund to the participant.
For each contest, each person/pair/team will receive the same puzzle in an opaque bag. Rules will be given, and then the host will count down "3, 2, 1, GO!" Everyone will open the bag, open the puzzle box, and begin puzzling. Rankings will be determined by finish time. The contest puzzles are yours to keep.
No early starts! If you open your bag and begin your puzzle before the start of the contest you will be disqualified.
Distractions: loud conversation/headphone music, singing, moving/standing in another competitor’s space, or anything else that may impede another competitor’s progress or the ability of judges and competition organizers to fulfill their role is NOT allowed.
Cell phone calls are NOT allowed during the competition. If we suspect that you have received help via headphones, we may ask to review your call log and if we find you were on a call during the competition, you will be disqualified.
Box top holders may be used. All other tools such as extra lighting, puzzle scoops, magnifying glasses, cutting tools, table risers, cell phone photos, extra printouts of any sort (not included with the competition puzzle), etc. are not allowed. Please contact the event host at [email protected] with any questions.
Individual timers are not available at the event, but you may bring your own personal time. There will also be a timer displayed on the TV at the front of the room visible to everyone.
Each individual / pair can use up to 2 trays of cardboard, foam, or other type of material of a maximum size of 16.5 x 11.7 (A3 size) as an aid during the assembly of the puzzles.
Each team can use up to 4 trays of cardboard, foam, or other type of material of a maximum size of 16.5 x 23.4 (A2 size) as an aid during the assembly of the puzzles.
Judges will be monitoring the area and watching as teams get close to finishing. When your team is close to finishing, raise your hand and a judge will come to your table to watch you finish and record your time. If a judge is unable to get to your table when you finish please record your own time and communicate it to the judge.
Lost pieces: There is a maximum 10 second penalty for missing pieces, even if the piece(s) is/are found later. Penalty is not per piece.
If, once the maximum time has elapsed, the puzzle is not complete, a judge will count the remaining pieces not placed. Two or more pieces already assembled will be considered part of the completed portion of the puzzle. Only single pieces will be counted as incomplete.
Tables will be 6 feet long and are divided in half for Solo and Pairs, but Teams get to use the whole table.
Shared tables: When pairs and individuals are competing on shared tables, it is not allowed to invade the area of the adjacent participant or hinder their construction. If no one is present on the second half of a shared table, it is not allowed to utilize that space; it must remain completely empty as though there were another puzzler(s) utilizing it.
Safety requirements: Keeping aisles clear and minimizing crowding in the event space are of the highest priority. Competitors must always abide by a judge’s request to preserve safety at the event.
Any incident that arises that is not reflected in these rules will be resolved by the event Host, Stephen Crea.
To help capture memories and provide free event pictures, the event will be photographed. Your entry and presence on the event premises constitutes your consent to be photographed and included on social media (Facebook groups) and promotions. By entering the event you waive and release any claims you may have related to the use of photographs of you at the event.
The event host and venue are not responsible for lost or stolen items. However, we will do our best to help find any items that may go missing.
